Woodbine in Toronto is unique on this list: its main track is a mile-and-a-half Tapeta synthetic surface — the largest synthetic oval in North America — with the world-class E.P. Taylor turf course set inside. Synthetic racing plays very differently from dirt: it is kinder to closers, compresses raw speed, and rewards horses with a strong, sustained late kick, so the wire-to-wire profiles that dominate on dirt are far less reliable here.

Woodbine is Canada's premier track and home of the King's Plate. Our angle: downgrade pure early speed and prioritize horses with proven synthetic or turf form and a genuine finishing punch. Dirt-to-synthetic form lines can be misleading, so a horse's record specifically over Tapeta and grass is worth far more than its dirt figures — class and closing ability are the traits that travel best on this surface.
