About Us

What is Aces & Races?

Aces & Races is a professional horse racing handicapping and picks service. We publish daily best bets, full card breakdowns, and educational content for thoroughbred bettors across all major North American circuits. Our team is led by Drew, a professional handicapper with 8+ years studying pace, speed, and class.

How long have you been doing this?

We've been handicapping professionally for over 8 years, covering 200+ race days annually across every major circuit. Our community has grown to 400+ active members who rely on our picks and analysis every race day.

The Edge Membership

How much does the Edge cost?

The Edge membership is $4.99/month — less than a single race bet. Members get daily full card breakdowns, proprietary model ratings on every horse, live race clocks, and Aces-rated best bets before first post.

What exactly do I get as an Edge member?

Every race day you get: full card breakdowns with our model rating on every horse, pace analysis for each race, best-bet callouts with reasoning, live race tracking, and post-race result analysis. It covers every major circuit we follow.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel anytime from your account page — no calls, no friction. You keep access through the end of your billing period.

Are any picks free?

Yes. Our blog and all educational articles are always free to read. We also post picks on Patreon at no cost. Full daily card picks with model scores and live tools require an Edge membership.

Our Handicapping

How does your model work?

Our proprietary model blends three signals: pace/speed ratings (55%), recent form factors (20%), and morning line implied probability (25%). Win probabilities are calculated via softmax and compared against the morning line to surface overlays — horses the market is mispricing.

What is the morning line?

The morning line is the track oddsmaker's opening odds — a guess at where the public will bet, not an accurate probability of winning. Sharp bettors use it as a reference, not gospel. We compare our model's win probability to the morning line on every horse to find value.

What is pace analysis?

Pace analysis maps out the likely flow of a race — which horses will compete for the lead early, how fast the fractions will be, and which running styles benefit from that setup. It's one of the most powerful and underused tools in handicapping.

Which tracks do you cover?

We cover all major North American circuits: Churchill Downs, Saratoga, Belmont, Keeneland, Gulfstream, Santa Anita, Del Mar, Oaklawn, Pimlico, Aqueduct, Fair Grounds, Woodbine — plus 14 regional tracks. See the full list on our Tracks page.

Responsible Gambling

Is horse racing gambling legal?

Pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing is legal in most US states and Canadian provinces through licensed racetracks and ADW (Advance Deposit Wagering) platforms. Always verify the laws in your jurisdiction before wagering.

Do your picks guarantee winning?

No. Horse racing is a form of gambling and results are never guaranteed. Our picks are analytical recommendations based on our model and expertise — they are for entertainment and informational purposes only. Never bet more than you can afford to lose.

Where can I get help with problem gambling?

If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, help is available 24/7 at the National Council on Problem Gambling: ncpgambling.org or call 1-800-522-4700.
