Paco Lopez Returns to Gulfstream: Set to Ride Xy Speed & Relentless Dreamer on Sunday

After serving a 50-day suspension imposed by the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) for striking a horse post-race at Parx, jockey Paco Lopez made his return to competitive racing on January 25, 2025, at Laurel Park. He had three mounts that day, including a ride in the Spectacular Bid Stakes.

Continuing his comeback, Lopez is slated to ride at Gulfstream Park on Sunday, February 2, 2025. He is scheduled to mount Xy Speed in Race 7 and Relentless Dreamer in Race 9. Xy Speed, trained by M. Lerman, is the morning-line favorite at 9-5 odds in Race 7.

Lopez’s return to Gulfstream Park marks a significant step in his efforts to rebuild his career and reputation following the suspension. He has expressed remorse for his previous actions and has committed to ongoing therapy as part of his rehabilitation process.

As Lopez resumes his riding duties, the racing community will be closely monitoring his performance and conduct, anticipating a positive and reformed presence on the track.
